The New York Interschool Association, Inc., is a consortium of eight independent schools in Manhattan that serves students, teachers and administrators in the member schools — Brearley, Browning, Chapin, Collegiate, Dalton, Nightingale-Bamford, Spence and Trinity.
Joint activities include faculty gatherings to support curriculum development and professional growth, and activities such as the annual choral festival and the winter peer leadership retreat that allow students to come together with a common purpose. Interschool also facilitates joint courses and academic sharing across its member schools.

Interschool sponsors the Faculty Diversity Search
The Faculty Diversity Search is a program to recruit and place teachers of color and othr under-represented minorities in New York City independent schools. Each year, approximately 25 local independent schools register with FDS to receive candidates from the FDS pool as openings occur. The FDS roster of schools includes kindergarten to 12th grade schools and kindergarten to 8th grade schools; pre-schools; girls’, boys’ and coed schools; a range of school philosophies, from progressive to traditional; non-sectarian and religiously-affiliated schools; schools for children with special needs; schools of differing sizes, from 350 to 1500 students; and schools in all five boroughs of New York City.
Since it was established in 1995, FDS has assisted over 150 teachers in finding jobs in a New York City independent school.
